Them nosy guv’ment folks, why should I answer their questions?

It is time for the decennial census mandated by the United States Constitution. In 2010, U.S. Census workers will be mailing, calling, and visiting to count the population of the United States and to learn a little about our people. What’s in for me? Representation in the United States House of Representatives is apportioned according to the census. The number of votes each state has in the Electoral College is determined by the census. Representation in our state legislatures is determined by the census. Distribution of government funding is determined by the census. Government policies and programs are influenced by the census. Research that determine strategies by business and community based organizations is dependant on an accurate census.

Let’s help spread the word to assist the U.S. Census make the most accurate determination of our population.

I am a professional economic developer. I presently work for communities and companies in developing and implementing workforce and economic development solutions as CEO of Phillips Economic Development Solutions (Phi EDS). I have earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) certification from National Development Council and hold a Master of Business Administration from Tennessee Technological University.
