SoMe or not SoMe? That is the question.

Does social media work for economic development? The post on the Burghard Group’s Strengthening Brand America blog, “Is Your Potential Capital Investor Participating in Social Media?” says not very much. I would agree. However, I sometimes feel 95% of everything I do is for naught, but it’s just impossible to identify that 5% that is productive until after the fact. Do I use social media? Sure, I think it’s effectiveness will improve and there could be a lot of intangible benefits. A CEO might not use social media, but he might use information an assistant found using social media. I think that if social media is used intelligently, it can be an effective piece in marketing your community. But then I still think there is a place for postcards… but that is another story.
