We’re one person at a non-profit corporation and we’re here to help business…

The Hickman County entrepreneurship class conducted by Columbia State Community College had its second and third sessions last week. Thursday night while they were meeting, I had a chance to work on updating Hickman County Economic Development’s Starting & Operating a Business in Hickman County webpage, www.business.hickmantn.org. It is not all inclusive by any means, but it gives a list of ‘who to talk to’, ‘where to go’ and ‘what requirements there are’ that is specific for Hickman County business (how to get a business license, zoning compliance, utility connections, local banks, etc.). In addition, the “Helpful Links” tab on that page takes one to other helpful information from other economic development partners such as Tennessee Dept. of Economic & Community Development’s Business Enterprise Resource Office (BERO) program, the Small Business Administration, University of Tennessee’s Center for Industrial Services and other resources.
