The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Institute for Economic Advancement will be conducting their Mid-South Basic Economic Development Course on March 15-18, 2010. The basic course is one of the courses required to sit for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam. “It offers a general survey of community economic development by focusing primarily on strategies and practices. It is an intensive introduction to the fundamentals of economic development that prepares participants to help their communities meet the competitive challenges they face in fostering economic advancement.”
As a Certified Economic Developer, I can attest that completing a Basic Economic Development Course accredited by IEDC is almost a minimum for anyone associated with economic development.
